There is plenty happening behind the scenes at The Valley right now. Following the arrival of Chelsea’s  Jay Dasilva on loan on Friday, the SLP has revealed Charlton want to sign Millwall centre-back, Stuart Williams.

Williams is the commanding, uncompromising type of player the Addicks have missed since Jason Pearce was injured.

Williams’ contract expires in the summer, and the Lions may want to hold on to him until the end of the season.

The SLP also reported that an unnamed midfielder will arrive at the club on Sunday (1 January).

The Edinburgh‎ Evening News has reported that Tony Watt’s loan deal at Hearts has been terminated, and the striker will be returning to London.

Kevin Nugent’s time at The Valley is over, and he is expected to leave the club in the next few days.

Charlton snatched a point at Southend on Saturday, when Andrew Crofts notched a late equaliser.

Joe Aribo had a fine game and was the Addicks’ Man Of The Match.

The former Staines midfielder hit the bar, and played a major part in the equaliser.

The Shrimpers took the lead midway through the first half following a corner.

Ezri Konsa cleared, but the ball was recycled and picked up by Simon Cox. The striker drifted across the area, and was allowed to turn and rifle a shot past Dillon Phillips.

Both sides hit the woodwork, Stephen McLaughlin for Southend, and Aribo for Charlton.

Ted Smith was busy as the Addicks pressed forward, and the visitors got a deserved equaliser a minute from time.

Great work by Aribo to drive a cross in from‎ the right. Andrew Crofts crashed the ball in via the bar.

Karl Robinson was pleased with the point and expects several players to arrive in January. When asked if there would be a little movement in the market during January, Robinson replied:

“Not just a little bit, a lot. A lot needs to change – we need better ball retention in the midfield area and we need wingers. I also think we need another striker.”

The players have just 48 hours respite before facing Bristol Rovers at The Valley on Monday.
