Southall disappointed with Snodland defeat

Lordswood travelled to local team Snodland Town on Tuesday night with a strong run of form and momentum in their favour but ultimately couldn’t get the job done against a team that has struggled so far this season.

Immediately after the game Lordswood manager Nicky Southall gave his reaction following the 2-1 defeat, he said: “I just think that we were the better team to be honest, I’ve told the boys I think we have had a brilliant start to the season and to not let the heads drop.”

He also stated: “With what’s gone on with the draw (FA Cup second round qualifying), I think maybe the players are looking too far ahead, I said there are three important games before the tie and if I’m sat in that dressing room, I would want to be on the team sheet for the FA Cup game.”

“It’s not an easy place to come, it is a local derby and I said to the boys you’re going to be a target now and teams will be up for it.”

The defeat follows a historic moment after Lordswood reach the second qualifying round for the first time, Southall outlined how much it meant to everyone around the club including himself after his experience in the cup.

The Lords now face Sittingbourne FC following a first round qualifying replay on Tuesday night away at Dover, the game is expected to take place on Saturday 14th September 2024 at Martyn Grove in what promises to be a great and historic tie.
