Chris Solly had to be replaced by Marco Motta twelve minutes from the end of the Derby game, after picking up an ankle knock.
The injury kept him out of the Bolton and Brighton games, but he has a chance of being fit for the trip to Leeds on Saturday.
Members of the Fans Forum were told at their meeting on Monday that the club were talking to Solly about a new contract.
Solly missed six games in February and March through injury, but was back on the bench for the Birmingham game at the beginning of April. He returned to the starting line-up in the following game at Ipswich, and retained his place for the Queens Park Rangers and Derby matches, skippering the side in all three matches. Both Rod Fanni and Motta are accomplished right-backs but Solly has always been chosen ahead of them when fit.
The current unrest at The Valley has thrown the spotlight on the future of most of the first team squad, and there have been rumours that the 25-year-old will move on in the summer. His problematical knee would make passing a medical difficult though.
Solly has now played over 200 games for the Addicks, scoring two goals, one at Leyton Orient and a spectacular strike at Blackpool.
His contract expires at the end of next season, so it is logical for the club to talk to him about a new deal.
Charlton’s Under-18 team progressed to the national play-off final of Professional Development League 2 after a thrilling encounter with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Wednesday evening.
Karlan Ahearne-Grant gave the Addicks an early lead from the penalty spot. Tom Gamblen levelled for Forest seconds after the restart, but Sulaiman Bah restored the visitors’ lead just before the hour mark. There was a lengthy delay late on after Terrique Anderson sustained a serious injury. There were ten added minutes played, and Ben Brereton tied things up nine minutes into the additional period.
There was no further scoring in extra-time and the game went to penalties. Jordan Beeney saved efforts from Alex Iacovitti and Gamblen, while Jordan Wright foiled Sam Bone, but Chris Millar, Karlan Ahearne-Grant, George Lapslie and Ezri Konsa all converted to send Charlton through 4-3. They will meet Sheffield United in the final at The Valley.
The match was refereed by Lisa Rashid, one of the few females on the Football League’s assistant referees’ list.
