Charlton Athletic announced on Thursday morning that Chris Solly had signed a new four-year deal, which will keep the popular defender at The Valley until the end of the 2016/17 season.

It is believed the deal was actually signed at the end of last week, despite the news not being made official until now.

22-year-old Solly is the two time winner of the fans Player Of The Year trophy and is the club’s longest serving player.

He has made 123 appearances for the club so far, scoring twice. He has been sidelined for the last two games but is expected to be fit for the trip to Watford on 14 September.

The news will delight all Addicks fans.
