Rochester based Jamun Racing had a solid weekend in the season opener at Brands Hatch in the Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain.Formula Ford

Jack Barlow was the team’s only runner of the weekend with the second car remaining vacant for the first three races of the season.

The youngster from Hastings did himself and the team proud as he took an impressive podium in race one before a brace of fifth places in races two and three.

The most impressive race for Barlow has to be the final race of the weekend when he slipped to last place on the opening lap.

He then had to show his race craft and skill to make his way through the pack and was up to eighth place on the eighth lap, before then slicing his way past two others cars before eventually finishing in fifth place.

Reflecting after race one, Barlow said: ““I didn’t get the best of start, I hadn’t even had the chance to practise a start before the race, and so I dropped back and had to pick my way through them.”

“I got up to behind Sam, who really put up a fight, a great job of defending, but he left the door open going into Druids and that was my opportunity to stick it down his inside. A great first race in Formula Ford, and I’m looking forward to the next few.”

The season now moves on to Donington Park over the East weekend in April and Jack will be looking to continue his impressive start to the season and will go into that race in fourth place in the overall championship.
