Dreams of winning the league could be over for the Invicta Dynamos for another year after drawing 2-2 at Solent & Gosport on Sunday night.
Kevin Parrish’s side went to the South Coast with a severely depleted roster and could only muster a draw that leaves them four points behind league leaders Chelmsford Chieftains with just four games to go.
The Dynamos went into the game without six key players as Chris Douglas, Shaun Yardley and Elliott Knell missed the tie through injury, with Callum Fowler, Andy Smith and Dan Fudger unable to travel.
However, there was a welcome return for defenceman Ryan Giles to bolster the depleted roster.
Despite the lack of numbers in which to call from, the Dynamos took the lead two minutes before the end of the first period as import Marek Nahlik fired home.
Two goals inside the space of a minute in the second period saw the Dynamos go into the final twenty minutes trailing 2-1.
Nahlik was to grab his second of the night in the 48th minute to pull the tie level, but despite their best efforts, the Dynamos couldn’t find a winner and ended the game without captain Anthony Leone after he was penalised for kicking.
The point keeps the Dynamos second in the NIHL South, with the four games to go and next weekend it is make or break for their title ambitions.
Kevin Parrish’s side entertain Streatham Redskins in Gillingham on Saturday night before heading the Chelmsford on Sunday evening for the top of the table clash.
