This was the second meeting of this Malling Derby and still neither side has scored a goal.
This did not have the feel of a Derby as it was a little timid but the referee Mr Joshua Williams made up for it by making some debatable decisions which got the crowd going.
Larkfield had the first half chance of the game in the third minute when Josh Jackson found himself in the area, his curling effort was saved by Shaun Wicks, then in the next minute Brad Webb 25 yards out saw his shot saved by Scott Andrews.
Two minutes later Captain Ted Rosetti saw his goal bound effort headed over the bar by Rob Lyall then in the 10th minute it was Larkfield’s turn as Sam Welch went into the area but saw his shot go just wide.
In the 22nd minute Larkfield thought they had taken the lead when a long diagonal ball found Hicham Akhazzan in the area on the left & his goal bound shot was tipped around the post by Wicks.
In the 24th minute came one of the debatable decisions when Lee Friend & Stuart Webb tangled with other & starting pushing each other & after everyone calmed down the referee sent both of them off. Snodland had a rare chance in the 27th minute when former Larkfield player Caine Smith waltzed past one defender & then from 25 yards shot over the bar.
Three minutes later Ethan Stuart latched onto a long ball went into the area but under pressure skewed his shot wide. In the 40th minute Akhazzan on the left wing cut inside & his shot was parried away by Wicks & cleared but only to Welch who went into the area & his shot was blocked by Wicks legs.
Another chance went a begging in the 42nd when a corner into the 6 yard box saw Lyall rise above everyone but head wide. In the 3rd minute of added time a Snodland free kick into the area saw Dan Ashton’s flicked header go just past the post.
Half time arrived & both managers would have a lot to say to get their teams playing better.
The second half was only 2 minutes old when Smith disposed Jackson ran forward & his shot from 25 yards flew past the post.
The game then had a quiet time as both sides seemed to give the ball away & then in the 76th minute Stuart running forward tried his luck from 25 yards & Wicks saved it at the second attempt.
Snodland had a chance in the 83rd minute when Webb saw his 25 yard free kick saved by Andrews. In the 1st minute off added on time Stuart saw his volley from the edge of the area go just over the bar then in the 3rd minute off added on time a free kick into the Larkfield area saw the ball headed around the area before finally ending up in Andrews arms.
The final whistle went & now for another 30 minutes to try and get a goal before the drama of penalties.
The first half of extra time produced nothing as both sides started to look tired, then in the 107th minute Luke Baptiste turned & his shot was acrobatically saved by Wicks. Three minutes later Dan Lott was put through on the left but his shot went high & wide then a minute later Josh Ladlow saw his 20 yard shot saved by Wicks. The final whistle went & now the drams of Penalties.
Larkfield went first Jake Beecroft, Baptiste, Lewis Mingle, Jackson & Jack Clark scored all their penalties while Webb, Ben Holder & Delvane Katta scored for Snodland but Caine Smith saw his effort saved so Larkfield go marching on.
