It was an entertaining weekend for Kent based teams and drivers in the latest round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton.James Cole - Snetterton - PSP Images

It showed that Motorbase Performance have been missed on their return to the grid, with Mat Jackson and James Cole.

Mike Bushell was racey for AMD Essex as he looked to put a disappointing first half of the season behind him.

The only down side for everyone was that Team Hard and Kieran Gallagher struggled which is a shame for the family run team.

The new look white Ford Focus from Motorbase showed that they can take to the track after a hiatus and still be competitive, in race one Jackson finished in 12th place and netted the team’s first points of the season.  Cole was also racey and settled in nicely finishing in 21st place giving him confidence for race two.Mike Bushell - Snetterton - PSP Images

Bushell was hoping to show what he could do in race one and he began to do just that in the AMD Ford Focus, missing out on a championship point by just one place, finishing 16th.

Gallagher didn’t have the best of weekends and race one was to be the only race that he would take to the starting grid, finishing a lap down for Tony Gilham’s outfit in 23rd place.

In race two the Motorbase boys really came into their own and showed that they are competitive and will be the team to watch in the second half of the season. Jackson brought home the Mountune powered focus in eighth place. Cole also netted his first points finish of the season with 11th and it meant a good opportunity for another good finish in race three.

It was Mike Bushell’s best finish to date in the British Touring Cars with tenth and a good solid haul of championship points, and it looked like he would be racey in race three, where he was running in P10 until lap four when he was involved in a racing incident and dropped down the positions. The two rather dashing White Ford’s of Motorbase, were there again and Jackson showed what an experienced competitor that he is, sitting solidly in seventh place for most of the race, before overtaking Colin Turkington and taking 6th place.

James Cole spent most of the early laps battling with Bushell for tenth place, until he was shunted off the road and dropped down the positions, which saw him retire from the race.

The season now moves onto Knockhill over the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd August.
