After a week without a game, Welling United return to action with a Vanarama National League South match behind closed doors at Slough Town.
Due to an early exit from the F.A. Cup and having a ‘bye’ week last weekend, Welling have only played one league and one cup game so far this season and will be looking to kick their season off at Arbour Park.
Following their cup defeat at Sheppey United and a league loss at Maidstone United, Brad Quinton’s team will want to put points on the board as soon as possible but they won’t find Slough Town an easy place to do that. The Rebels started the season with a one-nil F.A. Cup win at Dartford followed by another only goal victory against Hemel Hempstead Town.
However, since then they have lost three-one at Dorking Wanderers and one-nil at home to Bath City to end their F.A. Cup campaign.
In the two seasons since Slough got promoted, they have enjoyed the better of the head to head games with the Wings. The Rebels have found one goal sufficient in each home game. At Park View Road, Welling lost two-one last season but did beat them by the same scoreline one season earlier.
Quinton is still shaping his Wings squad and there has been movement during the last week. Popular goalkeeper Dan Wilks has departed but on the credit side, attacking midfielder Reuben Duncan has joined from Millwall on a one month loan and will be available for selection.
