Sittingbourne vs VCD Athletic preview

Sittingbourne entertain promotion chasing VCD Athletic at Woodstock Park before the Brickies contend with three consecutive away games in the Isthmian League South East Division.

Sittingbourne will be looking to extend their current run of three league games unbeaten after Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Chichester City.

Sittingbourne manager Chris Lynch will be without Shaun Brown, Jason Fregene, Tom Benham, Manny N’Daw and Johan Caney-Bryan due to injury. The latter four are all close to returns from their respective injuries, whilst Shaun Brown is the Brickies only long term absentee.

Lex Allan is fit for Saturday despite initial injury concerns after the centre back appeared to suffer a shoulder injury in last weekends 1-1 draw at Chichester City.

Sittingbourne fan favourite Tom Loynes will be hopeful of returning to first team action soon having responded well to training and U23 games. The winger looks to compete in the U23 team this Thursday (21/11/19) as the Brickies host Three Bridges, 19:45 kick off.

Having made his Sittingbourne debut off the bench in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Chichester, Harry Taylor will be hopeful of making his home debut on his Birthday week. The 19 year old will look to cement a place in Chris Lynch’s plans with fellow strikers Johan Caney-Bryan and Shaun Brown injured.

Striker Sid Sollis is the club’s joint top goal scorer with Johan Caney-Bryan, however Sollis will be eager to score his first league goal on his tenth appearance in Sittingbourne colours. Four of Sid Sollis’ six goals have come at home.

VCD Athletic missed out on the Playoffs last season by just one point, the Vickers look to go one better this season as they currently sit third, just five points off league leaders Cray Valley PM.

Sittingbourne have two games in hand over third place VCD and could move up to 11th and within 7 points of the Vickers.

Tommie Fagg made his 50th Sittingbourne appearance two weeks ago, and will make his 40th league appearance for the Brickies should he feature on Saturday.

Kane Phillip will make his 60th Sittingbourne appearance should the striker feature on Saturday.

Sid Sollis has made 9 appearances for Sittingbourne so far, and looks certain to make his 10th appearance in Sittingbourne colours with injuries to two of the Brickies’ strikers.

Club captain Chris Webber will look to make his 85th league appearance for Sittingbourne on Saturday.
