With this comfortable victory in the Kent Divisional Cup Final, in front of a crowd of 400 at the impressive Gallagher stadium.
The match was preceded by a minutes applause in memory Jordan Dawes who played in the South East Counties Womens Football league until her club were promoted out of the league.
Sittingbourne Ladies finished their first season under the Sittingbourne banner with a flourish having secured an impressive League and Cup double. They bossed the first half, but Dartford started the second half brightly only to fall away in the last quarter of an entertaining game.
After a cagey start Sittingbourne’s Georgia Winger put the Brickies ahead in the 16th minute with a shot from just outside the goal area that looped over the advancing Dartford keeper. Darts almost had an instant reply, but Sittingbourne keeper Megan Seymour, who transitioned into goalkeeper only at the beginning of this season, made a good save.
From that point on Sittingbourne looked the more dangerous of the two sides and in the 19th minute Beth Jackson had a great shot that curled just wide of the far post. 11 minutes later Sarah Fletcher received a great pass and she toe poked the ball into the Darts net to make it 2-0 to the Brickies.
Sittingbourne were playing some good football and on 37 minutes a lovely move involving 3 players ended in the ball passed across the Darts goal where Samantha Miles was lurking and she fired just wide.
In a half extended by 8 minutes caused by a couple of injury stoppages Beth Jackson was again unlucky as her header bounced off the Darts bar.
Darts started the second half well and had a couple of efforts that Sittingbourne did well to block. The closest they came was an effort from a free kick that was well saved by Megan Seymour. Darts continued to press and had the ball in the net but the effort was ruled out for off-side.
Sittingbourne picked up the pace and were again bossing the game. Beth Jackson was again close with a header that went just wide and the Brickies played out the last quarter of the game well on top.
As you would expect there were scenes of jubilation at the end of the game as the Sittingbourne Ladies celebrated their League and Cup double.
