A late Jordan Perrin penalty save earned Sittingbourne all three points against high flying VCD Athletic. The win sees Sittingbourne move within just 7 points of the Vickers.
Sittingbourne started the game the brighter, however a scrappy midfield affair ensued with both teams trying to break each other down but neither team creating too many clear cut chances.
Sittingbourne took the lead in the 25th minute through Sid Sollis, a shot from outside the box, created by the ever lively Chris Barnard.
Just before the break Tommie Fagg increased the lead.
VCD started the second half the brighter team, and within 10 minutes former Sittingbourne defender Jack Steventon popped up to give the Vickers hope of a comeback.
However, any chance of taking the points back to Crayford became an even tougher task when Bradley Simms brought down Kane Phillip. The referee adjudged the rash and dangerous challange a red card offence and Simms was shown his marching orders.
The visitors tried to create the opening they needed to draw level but the Sittingbourne back four and Jordan Perrin were equal to everything the Vickers had to offer, albeit half chances.
Sittingbourne soaked up the pressure well and looked dangerous on the the counter attack, and the Brickies failure to kill the game off seemed to have cost them late on when the referee pointed to the spot, awarding the visitors a penalty.
However with just minutes remaining Jordan Perrin held his nerve and saved his second spot kick in as many games, ensuring Sittingbourne held on to all three points.
