Wrotham based Airwaves Racing are targeting more success and silverware in the penultimate round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.Airwaves Racing looking for solid results at Thruxton

Silverstone is the destination for the team this weekend as they look to build on the success of Mat Jackson at the last round in Rockingham.

The team are hoping that their NGTC Ford’s will be able to exploit their pace down the long straights at the home of British motorsport.

Silverstone is a track that the team know well with Jackson, having won their last season in race two and Aron Smith having finished in third place in race one.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, Mat said: “Off the back of our success at Rockingham I am very much looking forward to getting back out on track at Silverstone this weekend.

“It’s a circuit where the Focus can stretch its legs, and it’s been very good to us in the past couple of years – most notably where we sealed our first win in the current NGTC Focus last year – so I am hoping of similar joy this time around.”Mat Jackson4

Tom Onslow-Cole’s addition to the squad has rejuvenated the team and his debut weekend which included one top ten finish, has left him looking forward to this weekend’s round.

Giving his thoughts ahead of getting back on track this weekend, Tom said: “Rockingham was a difficult introduction to the car in one of the least desirable conditions you’d want really. I seem to have settled in to the team well; it’s like a family atmosphere and I feel very supported within the team.

“Silverstone has always been a good track for me in the past; I came very close to being the only person to ever score maximum points in the BTCC there a couple of years ago –  it’s one that I enjoy driving and the racing is so close it always makes for an exciting race day.

“The Focus is very close to where it needs to be; but we’ve made a few tweaks to the car ahead of this weekend and I’m confident that we’ll be able to run at the front.”Liam Griffin2

The Addison Lee Motorbase squad is also hoping to bounce back from a torrid weekend at Rockingham two weeks ago. Mechanical issues and a puncture put paid to Liam Griffin’s challenge on the Jack Sears Trophy; but the Addison Lee boss is back behind the wheel of the S2000 Focus this weekend looking to add to his tally of six class wins.

Liam is looking forward to finding his form, he said: “Rockingham was a huge disappointment; to concede a championship in that way with three DNF’s was gutting. It’s been great fun to be part of the Jack Sears Trophy and I’m glad I’ve pushed Lea Wood as far as I could – without a doubt he’s a worthy champion and it’s just a shame I didn’t get the chance to make him earn it a little bit more!

“Hopefully we’ll have a bit more fun at Silverstone this weekend and we can add a couple more Jack Sears Trophy’s to the collection!”

Round 9 of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship takes place at Silverstone circuit on September 28/29.  Live coverage of Sunday’s events will be shown on ITV4, itv.com and also in HD from 11.15am – 6pm; with itv.com featuring live streaming online of Saturday’s qualifying session between 3.40 and 4.10pm.
