Russell Slade’s first choice strike partnership of Josh Magennis and Nicky Ajose have played a total of eleven games between them this season.
Magennis has made four appearancecs, and Ajose has started in all seven of Charlton’s competitive games.
Ajose netted a brace in the 2-1 win at Walsall, while Magennis has yet to open his account. The duo have only played four games in tandem, and have not yet forged a real partnership.
Ajose and Lee Novak appeared to form an instant bond when they were paired together for the first pre-season game at Welling in early July.
Though it is still early days, it is slightly worrying that Ajose and Magennis have drawn a blank in ten of the eleven games they have played between them.
To be fair, there is not too much creativity coming from the central areas at present, but Ajose is expected to feed off Magennis.
The big Irishman is away on international duty this week, but will be looking to net his first Addicks goal at Fleetwood.
The manager will be hopeful that he will also have the services of Lee Novak to call upon at Highbury next Saturday.
High flying Fleetwood are currently third in the table, and will give Slade’s team a stern test.
