Ben Amos kept his third clean sheet in a row on Saturday, and produced some outstanding saves to foil title chasing Blackburn.

Amos played Champions League football during his time with Manchester United, but failed to impress when he moved to Bolton on a four year deal in the summer of 2015.

The Trotters loaned him to Cardiff for the 2016/17 season but, again, he failed to make an impact.

Karl Robinson snapped Amos up on a season long loan deal last summer‎, and he has been a revelation for the Addicks.

Here is what Lee Bowyer said about his keeper after the Blackburn game;

‎”He’s been unreal all season, he’s been unbelievable and I have to say I see Lee Turner working with the goalies day in, day out and I think Ben will say it himself. Lee Turner has made him an outstanding goalkeeper.

“He was a good goalkeeper when he came but now he’s unreal. I’ve played with some top keepers in my time and the saves he’s making are incredible.

“The work that they put in, Dillon (Phillips), Lee Turner and Ben every day, that’s what you get those type of rewards. For me he has been outstanding all season.”

‎Bowyer was right to acknowledge Lee Turner’s part in the turnaround of Amos’ fortunes. Turner had a similar effect on another Addicks custodian.

Nick Pope went into the 2014/15 season vying for the number one spot with Stephen Henderson. He ended it on loan at Bury, with Henderson, Neil Etheridge, and Marko Dmitrovic ahead of him in the Valley pecking order.

Pope got a run in the side towards the end of the following season when Henderson was injured.

Gone was the nervy, jittery keeper previously seen at The Valley, Pope had turned into a confident keeper who dominated his box.

He had always been a good shot-stopper, but his new found presence made him a formidable last barrier.

So good was his form, that Pope kept his place when Henderson regained fitness, and attracted ‎attention from Premier League clubs.

‎He left The Valley that simmer, and signed for Burnley in a deal thought to be worth around £1.2million.

Tom Heaton was Sean Dyche’s first choice keeper during the 2016/17 campaign, with Pope restricted to cup appearances.

But following Heaton’s injury, Pope has established himself as the Clarets’ number one this season, and was recently called into the England squad.

Turner himself never played above non-leagiue level, but as a coach, he is outstanding.
