Tareiq Holmes-Dennis has joined Oldham on loan until the end of the season. He had successful loan spells with both Oxford and Plymouth last season.
Holmes-Dennis will be available for the Latics’ clash with local rivals Rochdale at Boundary Park on Saturday.
Holmes-Dennis has made 12 appearances in all competitions for the Addicks this season, the last being in the 5-0 reverse at Huddersfield in January.
The 20-year-old was an unused substitute in the Middlesbrough match on Sunday, and captained the Under-21s in their 2-1 win at Ebbsfleet on Tuesday evening.
Jose Riga has Yun Suk-Young, Morgan Fox and Zakaraya Bergdich to play on the left side of defence, and probably wants Holmes-Dennis to get some regular first team action before the end of the season.
Oldham are currently in 21st place in the League One table and are fighting to avoid relegation.
Charlton travel to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, as they strive to continue their recent good form.
The Owls currently occupy the last play-off
spot, though they have stuttered at home of recent times. They have won once, drawn twice and lost to relagation threatened Rotherham in their last four outings at Hillsborough.
Riga could be boosted by the return to fitness of skipper, Johnnie Jackson, and Simon Makienok will be available after recovering from a bout of illness.
Callum Harriott got a knock near the end of the Boro game, but should be available.
The Addicks may look something like this: Pope; Motta, Fanni, Teixeira, Fox; Gudmunsson, Cousins, Diarra, Yun; Makienok, Harriott.
Subs: Mitov, Johnson, Lennon, Poyet, Bergdich, Lookman, Ghoochannejhad.
Warwickshire’s Stuart Attwell will be the referee.
This is a game Wednesday will expect to win, but their recent momentum will give Charlton hope of springing a surprise.
