Wayne Rooney’s hair stylist has been drafted in to give underdogs Bromley FC a unique new look before their FA Cup first round match against Leyton Orient.

Snipper Daniel Johnson, who also cuts Rooney’s Manchester United team-mates Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Young’s hair, as well as masterminding Tottenham hot-shot Jermain Defoe’s barnet, was given a tough task.

The celebrity stylist was asked to shave Quick Response (QR) codes on the back of Bromley’s starting line-up’s heads, which, when scanned with a smartphone reader will link to betting company Betfair’s mobile site.

Johnson said: ‘I’m used to styling footballers’ hair – and trust me I’ve had some weird requests from them before – but this was in a different league.

‘The QR cuts certainly put my skills to the test.

‘The Bromley boys were game for a laugh and I’m hoping it won’t just be their hair that’s a talking point on Saturday.’

Bromley boss Mark Goldberg added: ‘This is a great tie up for the club, a little unconventional, but great nonetheless.

‘The lads were shocked when I asked them to take part but they know what this could mean for the club and they’re looking forward to showing them off in our biggest game of the season on Saturday.’

Betfair spokesman Alex Bake added: ‘Everybody loves an underdog, that’s what this competition is all about.

‘We wanted to show our support for the teams outside of the Football League and this is the perfect opportunity to do that.’
