Sevenoaks Town 3-1 Faversham Town
Sevenoaks Town 3-1 Faversham Town

Sevenoaks Town continued their fine form with new manager Harry Hudson as they continue their rise up the table and relegation looks more unlikely now while Faversham Town will come away from Greatness Park deflated but knowing they are safe.

The game took an age to get going & then in the 21st minute Sevenoaks had their first chance when Joe Bingham on the edge of the area saw his curling effort pushed around the post for a corner by Kei Plumley, a minute later Kyle De Silva flicked the ball forward for Michael Aziaya but his header went just wide.

Four minutes later Sevenoaks took the lead when Freddie Parker was put through into the area & he steadied himself before slotting the ball past Plumley.

Two minutes later it was two when Yahaya Bamba running into the area was adjudged to have been fouled & a penalty given, up stepped Parker & his penalty went into the bottom right hand corner.

In the 35th minute it was nearly three when Plumley’s rushed kick went straight to Bamba but his shot from 5 yards went just past the post.

Sevenoaks were now in complete control as Faversham did not know what was happening & in the very next minute Parker on halfway fed Bamba & his weak shot was easily saved.

In the 41st minute Bradley Wilson ran into the area before passing into the path of Bamba but his shot came back of the post, in the next minute it was three when Bamba was put through in the area & he passed the ball into the net.

In the 44th minute it nearly became four when Parker latched onto a back pass & went round Plumley but from an acute angle hit the post.

Half time arrived & Sevenoaks would have been the happier with their performance while Faversham’s James Collins would have wondered what had happened to his team.

The second half saw Faversham come out with vigour & looked a completely different team while Sevenoaks seemed to rest on their laurels thinking they had the victory.

In the 47th minute Tyrell Richardson-Brown saw his shot from 20 yards saved by Tyler McCarthy then in the 56th minute Faversham got a life line when Manny Oluwasemo in the area stroked the ball past McCarthy game on.

Five minutes later it was nearly two when Clark Woodcock on the edge of the area saw his first time shot go inches past the post, another half chance came in the 66th minute when Ethan Smith saw his 20 yard effort go just past the post.

Six minutes later a free kick into the area was half cleared & Woodcock’s volley from 20 yards went just past the post. In the 75th minute a Harry Harding free kick from 28 yards was tipped around the post by McCarthy.

The rest of the game saw Faversham pressing for another goal while Sevenoaks relied on breakaways which were rare.

The final whistle went & relief went round Greatness Park for Sevenoaks while Faversham’s manager must have wondered what if they played the first half the same as the second half.
