See you next season

Young right-back, Aaron Barnes, has signed a one year extension to his contract, which will keep him at The Valley until next summer.

The 20-year-old has been on the periphery of the first team this season, and he will be hoping to make the breakthrough next season.

Barnes is a former Arsenal trainee and has captained Jason Euell’s Under-23 side this season.

The club have reported that Lewis Page has had surgery on his hamstring, and will be out for three or four months.

Page was signed on a permanent basis from West Ham in January after having spent the first half of the season on loan at Coventry.

The 20-year-old made 26 appearances for the Sky Blues but has not had a smooth transition since switching to the Addicks.

He had to be taken off before the half hour mark in his debut against Millwall at The Valley, and received an early red card in his next appearance at Bolton.

Page sustained his current injury against Bradford City in the 1-1 draw at The Valley last week.

‎Alastair Thrush – Charlton’s head of medical services – gave this update on Page’s injury:

“Lewis sustained a significant injury to his left hamstring in our match against Bradford and his subsequent MRI scan revealed that he had almost completely torn the muscle tendon junction of the hamstring.

“Following consultation with the specialist, it was agreed that the best management for the injury was a surgical reattachment, which he underwent in hospital on Tuesday, and he’ll now face three to four months of rehabilitation before hopefully returning to action for the start of pre-season.”

‎Karl Robinson is planning a lengthy and exhaustive pre-season preparation as he seeks a solution to the injury crisis that has plagued the club this year.

Page will hope his recovery is complete in time for him to report back with his colleagues in June.

Elsewhere, Robinson may have Joe Aribo, Josh Magennis and Chris Solly available for the trip to Peterborough on 1 April.
