Seaborne proving to be Addicks hero

Charlton’s last five matches have been:

Bristol City won 2-0

Burnley won 1-0

Huddersfield drew 1-1

Peterborough won 2-0

Millwall drew 0-0

Three wins, two draws and just one goal conceded after letting in eight in their previous two games, both played at The Valley.

Great work by the Addicks defence and perhaps the contribution of one player has been underestimated. He has played in four of the five games, missing the Huddersfield match, so has a ‘clean sheet’ thus far.

Danny Seaborne is not a natural left-back, he is a left footed central defender who can fill in at full-back. What was obvious from the time he made his Addicks debut at Ashton Gate, was Seaborne’s natural instinct to talk to his fellow defenders and organise the back line.

The Barstaple born 25-year-old made 52 appearances for local club Exeter before switching to Southampton during the 2009/10 season.

Seaborne would be interested in extending his loan when his current deal ends in January. Chris Powell may consider Seaborne’s talismanic qualities, allied to his defnsive ability, may be an asset worth hanging on to.
