Despite a number of postponements due to cup competitions, the latest edition of SCEFL action produced plenty of meaningful results.
As was the theme in midweek, VCD Athletic capitalised once again on a slip up from Holmesdale. After leading 2-0 via Lewis Heywood-Oriogun and Don Macauley, Whitstable Town found two late goals from Omotunmise Akanni and Harvey Smith to level the game at 2-2.
VCD, the division’s form side, marched on with a 2-0 win away at Snodland. Bethel Gboda continued his run of scoring to give the hosts the lead, before George Whitelock put the result out of sight in the second half. As a result, the Vickers now possess a seven point lead at the top of the table, while still holding two games in hand over Holmesdale.
Faversham Town moved up to third following a 2-0 win over Rusthall. They led after 12 minutes thanks to Johan Caney-Bryan, and Tashi-Jay Kwayie found the net once again around the hour mark.
Tunbridge Wells cling onto their playoff place despite a loss to Bearsted. Jack Walder’s consolation goal in the 113th minute proved just that, as the away side hung onto a 2-1 victory.
The most entertaining game of the weekend was undoubtedly Hollands & Blair’s meeting with Fisher. The home side led before a quickfire double from Courtney Barrington tipped the score in Fisher’s favour. Joshua Brooker equalised ten minutes from time, but Barrington’s third of the evening in the 91st minute stole all three points for the visitors.
Glebe slipped nearer to the relegation zone following their loss to Larkfield & New Hythe. Jamie Philpot equalised from the spot for Glebe before half-time, only for two late goals from Tyler Ibe and Bryan Zepo to gift-wrap a 3-1 win for Danny Lye’s side.
The round’s only draw came between Lydd Town and Erith & Belvedere. The Deres led for the majority of the opening half through Tunde Aderonmu, but Ronnie Dolan’s second half penalty cancelled the two sides out.
