Wednesday night saw the conclusion of midweek SCEFL action, with two games seeing out the latest round of fixtures.
VCD Athletic find themselves as league leaders after a 3-2 win over Glebe. Ollie Freeman opened the scoring early on before grabbing his second right after the interval, with Bethel Gboda also on the scoresheet for the hosts. Glebe replied with two late goals from Red Jenkins and Jamie Philpot but could not find an equaliser.
The Vickers sit on top of the table with a two-point lead over Holmesdale, while also having two games in hand over the Bromley-based side.
Towards the bottom of the table, Sutton Athletic and Rusthall drew 1-1. Jamal Abubakari broke the deadlock for the home side deep into the second half, but the visitors hit back through Charlie Clover in the 86th minute to rescue a point.
Six games took place on Tuesday night, with two postponements due to Larkfield & New Hythe and Faversham Town’s FA Cup Replays. Both sides are now eliminated from the competition following respective losses to Cray Wanderers and Broadbridge Heath.
Punjab United climbed to third place following a 1-0 win away to Erith & Belvedere. Wayne Bushell’s goal in the 60th minute proved enough to secure all three points for Chipie Sian’s side.
Second-placed Holmesdale produced an identical result at St Paul’s Sports Ground, as Don Macauley scored the only goal in a win over Fisher.
The round’s highest attendance (298) could be found at The Belmont Stadium, which hosted Whitstable Town 2-1 Bearsted. Robbie Roberts clawed Bearsted back into the game after Jerson Dos Santos’ opener, but Finn O’Mara restored the hosts’ lead four minutes later.
Kennington claimed their first three points of the season after a 1-0 win against Hollands & Blair. A 2nd minute goal from Fin Dent gave the visitors an early lead, which ultimately saw no response from the home side.
Similarly, Stansfeld picked up a first win of the season against Tunbridge Wells but remain in the relegation zone. Regan Corke’s opener was swiftly cancelled out by Stansfeld’s Dario Sesay-De Luca, with Mo Buhari scoring the winner in first-half stoppage time.
The midweek theme of early goals continued in Snodland Town’s 2-1 win at home to Lordswood AFC, as Callum Peck scored scored in the 8th mintute for the away side. However, two goals within a minute from Stanley Oldfield and Tristan Lock pushed Snodland within a point of the playoff places.
