Monday night football takes place in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division when SC Thamesmead host Soul Tower Hamlets.
So far this season The Acre have won one, drawn one and lost four. Their victory was at home to Lewisham Borough and their draw was a goal-less encounter at Welling Town. Their F.A. Vase campaign ended at the first hurdle when they lost four-three on penalties having been held to a one all draw by Little Common.
On Saturday they took an early lead at Bridon Ropes through Raphael President. However, two second half goals by the hosts condemned Thamesmead to defeat.
It has been a better start for their East London based guests who are yet to be beaten in any competition this season. They have won two and drawn three and had a good win in the Vase when beating Rusthall three-two. Timothy Monsheju has started particularly well with seven goals in six matches.
Their game on Saturday, at Rochester, gave an example of their fortitude. They were two nil down at half time and that was still the case until twenty minutes remained when Monsheju pulled one back. Nine minutes later Krishnan Singh equalised and the teams took a point apiece.
There was no meeting between the two sides last season as this is Soul Tower Hamlets’ first campaign in the SCEFL so both teams will be keen to draw first blood.
