Welling United visit Salisbury City on Easter Monday for the Wings’ last Skrill Premier away game of the season.FOOTBALL (WELLING HOME)

Both teams have enjoyed their first season in the league following promotion from the Conference South where they contested the league title up until the final week. Welling United claimed the title in an exciting finale and neither side has been at risk of losing their new status this time around.

Had it not been for a drop of form in the final month for Welling, with them only picking up one point in their last four games, both teams would have been looking at a top half finish.

It was a big day for Welling on Saturday, with visitors Luton Town enjoying victory in their first game since being crowned champions.

Quade Taylor’s injury makes him a doubt and should Alfie Mawson remain unfit to return, Tom Bender may well continue at centre back with Jack Obersteller at left back.

Salisbury have had an additional day to prepare as they visited Aldershot Town on Good Friday and endured a sapping 3-2 defeat. Having pulled back a two goal deficit before half time, they succumbed to a Joe Oastler 48th minute goal and were unable to equalise again.

The two clubs met at Park View Road on August Bank Holiday Monday but once the visitors had been reduced to ten men, following the dismissal of Theo Lewis shortly before the break, City were happy to defend and take a point from a 0-0 draw. Jamie White and former Wing Charlie Sheringham, on loan from AFC Bournemouth, have been in prolific form recently and the hosts will be expected to play a more expansive game at their Raymond McEnhill stadium.

In a great show of appreciation to their supporters, Welling United’s owners have laid on free coach travel so there should be a reasonable Wings following.
