Blue Square Bet South league leaders, Welling United, make the eagerly anticipated journey to second placed Salisbury City knowing that victory there will cement their place at the summit of the table.
Wings’ manager Jamie Day will be well aware of how difficult the task will be for his team that will be deprived of leading players through injury and suspension. Day, himself, is out for the second of his two game ban and Giannoulis Fakinos starts an enforced three game absence following his dismissal at Bath City.
George Craddock was signed on loan from Northampton Town to strengthen the squad just before the transfer deadline and was on the bench at Eastbourne Borough on Easter Monday.
Full time Salisbury City have a very good home record having lost just once, Basingstoke Town being the only away team to win there so far this season.
Earlier in the season, Welling beat Salisbury at Park View Road in a tight game settled by a goal by Ross Lafayette in the 85th minute.
Last season at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium the corresponding match finished goal-less although Welling missed a penalty that day. Charles Adameno, a one time Welling loanee, featured for Salisbury that day and should be in their starting line up again on Saturday. Meanwhile Jake Reid, who scored three goals in six games for City in 2009, is expected to start for the Wings.
Welling can expect to have a good support in Wiltshire as there is a full supporters coach going along with many others travelling by rail and road.
