Despite holding the league leaders for seventy minutes and taking the lead, Bromley returned from Wiltshire with nothing after Salisbury showed why they are top of the league with a powerful display of attacking football scoring three times in the last twenty minutes.
The game started with both sides looking to attack, Salisbury looked to go down the middle while Bromley tried the wings. The Ravens had two players making debuts and centre back Helge Orome gave a good account of himself next to Moses Swaibu as they stood up to a long spell of pressure.
The home side’s best chance fell to Elliott Frear but his shot was well saved by Joe Welch. Late in the half Bromley rallied and after going close from a Max Noble cross they eventually took the lead on 45mins when Danny Waldren crossed for Pierre Joseph-Dubois to volley home from ten yards out leaving the home crowd stunned.
The second half started with Salisbury attacking again and Bromley trying their luck on the break, Christopher McPhee hit the post and Frear forced another save from Welch while Ali Fuseini had The Ravens best chance, but shot tamely at Mark Scott.
Ryan Bret was denied by Welch before The Whites pressure eventually paid off on 70mins when Fear’s powerful run was finished off by Jamie White.
Bromley did muster a response with Dubois going close and Louie Theophanous firing over, but Salisbury came strong again and in the last ten minutes it was clear that the full time professional side were going to be too strong for Mark Goldberg’s lightweight side.
The second goal came on 80mins when Tony Finn lost possession on the edge of the box and Robert Sinclair’s shot looped up off a defender and dropped in just under the bar.
A minute later it was 3-1 when Frear hit a powerful low drive from the edge of the box and beat Welch at the near post. The Ravens continued to battle, but couldn’t create any real chances against a very well drilled, hard working side worthy of their place in at the top of the table.
