Dutchaman, John van Zweden, posted the following Tweet on Thursday afternoon:
“Hopefully tomorrow will be a fantastic day for @CAFCofficial and their fans.”
Van Zweden was a director at Swansea when Huw Jenkins was chairman.
The two famously fell out in 2015 when Manchester United were the visitors to the Liberty Stadium.
A Dutch film crew were following van Zweden that day, and when they asked him about then United manager, Louis van Gaal, van Zweden described his fellow Dutchman as an, “arrogant b*****d””.
Jenkins was disappointed with van Zweden’s remarks and said:
“It is disappointing that one of our directors has apparently made a statement in the media in relation to a manager of another football club.
“Our football club prides itself on having a good working relationship with all Premier League clubs, managers and staff.
“We feel we have built up that good relationship over a number of years and will continue to work hard to preserve our image within the Premier League and the game in general at all costs.
“If any of our directors behave in an inappropriate and unprofessional manner not befitting this football club then they will be dealt with internally and appropriately.”
The pair have obviously made up and it seems they are set to buy Charlton. van Zweden’s Tweet indictes the deal will be confirmed on Friday.
The change of ownership will delight Addicks fans after the confusion of the Southall/Nimer tenure.
