There was a shock at Ramsgate this evening as they announced the departure of manager Tony Russell.

It is extraordinary as Russell had yet to complete a month in charge of the club, he departs having been in charge for just 25 days.

He and his coaching team have left the Southwood Stadium with immediate effect, and as a result of that the pre-season fixture due to take place with Kennington this evening has also been cancelled.

Russell was appointed Ben Smith’s replacement on June 10th, who left having been confirmed as remaining as manager. Having missed out on the Isthmian League title to Cray Valley PM and subsequently losing in the play-off semi-finals.
