Soccer Am’s Max Rushden will line up alongside footballing legends as Lashings All-Stars take on Maidstone United on Sunday afternoon.
The Sky presenter will line up for the Milson Coors cup match at the Gallagher Stadium on Sunday 24th March with kick off at 3pm.
Rushden will take to the field alongside the likes of Rob Lee, Nigel Winterburn, Kerry Dixon, Pat Nevin, Mark Wright, Neil Webb and Clayton Blackmore.
With a decent crowd expected to pack into the ground, the Lashings side will be managed by former West Ham United and England striker Tony Cottee with Rushden expecting to play in his preferred position:
“It looks like a decent squad. I’ll sit in the hole just behind the strikers, and might do some running for all the other players who’ve got a better touch than me. It’ll be the first time I’ve seen Rob Lee without Jon Beresford standing next to him.”
Cottee is relishing the chance of being the boss of the All-Stars and insists it will be him that runs the team:
“I’m really looking forward to Managing the team at Maidstone. We’ll be looking to have fun and entertain the crowd but we will also hopefully play some of the good football associated with the players in our team.”
“I won’t, however, be letting chirpy players like Perry Groves take over though … there will only be one Manager ! I hope everyone enjoys the day.”
The Maidstone United side is expected to include legends Steve Butler, Mark Gall, Jason Lillis, Craig Roser, Nathan Paul and Mark Benney.
The Stones Legends will be managed by Mal Watkins, assisted by Graham Martin – who has also said he expects to play the full 90 minutes.
Admission is just £5 for adults and £3 for concessions – pay at the gate.
