Simon Rudd is ready to go racing as the 2015 motorsport season gets underway this weekend for the Medway based driver.

Rudd will be taking to the track in the VW Racing Cup at the weekend at Oulton Park as part of the British GT support package.

Speaking to Kent Sports News about the upcoming season, Simon is clearly excited to be able to get racing after what feels like a long winters break.

He said: “I am really looking forward to getting on track and racing. There has been a lot of hard work over the winter to get things in place for this year and we have formed some very exciting partnerships for 2015.”

Testing has been going well for the both the team and Simon over the winter and he is confident that there will be improvements from last season.

He added: “We haven’t had as much testing time as planned, however the shakedown and first test showed promising times. We are quicker than last year already and still have a couple more sessions to go before we kick off at Oulton Park this weekend.”

With the improvement in times from last season already, Simon is realistic that this season will be even more competitive than last year, and the car does look good for 2015.

“I have set some realistic targets for this year. The VW Cup is mighty competitive and I had to re-assess my targets last year. This year, there is a combined improvement in both myself and the car so my targets are higher going into the first round.

“The boys have worked all winter building new cars. They look great and feel much more improved than last year. I still need some more seat time to get 100% with it, but we are almost there!”

Team Hard have a number of drivers on the grid for the coming season and Simon could find himself racing against his own teammates on more than one occasion.

He said: “There are a lot of Team Hard cars this year. It has its pros and cons but I would be surprised if there was no on track battling at some point.

“It is tough to tell where anyone is in comparison with other drivers. I am concentrating on getting the best results for me and as we found last year, you will be racing different people at different tracks due to the amount of people on the grid. It should be a great season!”
