Simon Rudd is ready and raring to go again as the VW CUP takes to the track following a break at Silverstone this weekend.
Ahead of the racing getting underway Kent Sports News caught up with the Team HARD driver to get his thoughts on how his debut season is going.
He said: “It is great! The start of the season wasn’t the best with the six laps we completed, however the last round at Rockingham was such good fun. The atmosphere around the track was great and the team were on top form all weekend – I hope it continues!
“Working with Tony and Team HARD was a major part in me joining the team for 2014. They have been there and done it all, both in the VW and Touring Cars. Having experienced team-mates is also a great benefit for me at this stage in my career. The guys are willing to help me improve all the time and I am aiming to get as close to them as possible at each round.”
The first two races of the season were a bit of a write off owing to two major accidents that caught up his own teams mates.
He added: “Thankfully the lads were both fine which is the main thing, however you can’t let these things affect you when you are racing.
“We didn’t have the best start to the season starting from last due to car issues in Round one, but two strong finishes at Rockingham has given me a good platform to build on for the next round and the rest of the season. If I could break into the top ten overall by the end of the season, it would be such an achievement.”
Simon’s next target is to break into the top ten and stay there consistently in both the races and the championship, starting with Silverstone.
He said: “I can’t wait. Silverstone is an iconic track and I have driven it before so I hope to take the momentum from Rockingham into the weekend.
“I have achieved two targets in two races so far and the next objective is to break into the top ten and really push on.”
