Simon Rudd has been impressive in the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 Supercup, which has seen him finish on the podium in recent weeks.
It is fair to say that Simon has really enjoyed racing in the ultra-competitive series and coming up against some of the most competitive racers on the grid.
Speaking about the racing, he said: “It is absolutely mega. You are talking two tenths of a second putting you back two rows in the grid but I love it. It is intense but the racing is so rewarding. – You are racing some of the best Ginetta drivers in the country, on the UKs biggest motorsport stage.”
Simon has been racing with Rob Boston Racing and he has enjoyed racing with one of the top teams in the GT4 Supercup.
He added: “Rob is known for being one of the top teams in the series and since I have joined, I can see why.
“Rob, all of the lads and also my team-mates have been so welcoming since I start with the team and that has made it really enjoyable.
“I definitely feel that I have improved as a driver since being with them and the car is always on the pace.”
Of the rounds that he has raced in during the 2019 season the definite highlight for Simon was the podium finish at Croft.
“Definitely. I had never been to Croft before but I now love it! Race one didn’t go to plan but I managed to work my way to reverse grid pole for race three and managed to bring it home for a podium. It is definitely the most rewarding result I have had.
“The fact we are with a new team, new car and new series and can get a good result in our second meeting underlines that we can be competitive.
“I still need to work on refining some things my side which will make me quicker and I think given a proper chance at a full season in 2020 we can be there or thereabouts.”
The next round of the season comes at the beginning of August at Snetterton and Simon is doing his best to be on the grid.
He added: “As it was a last minute decision to sign up to Supercup we are short on budget for 2019 so it maybe a case that we get another round in and put our full attention on 2020. We have a hard six months coming up to try and raise the funds but we will give it a go.”
