The Royal & Ancient Golf Club, organisers of the Open Championship, are urging spectators to plan ahead for when the championship returns to Royal St George’s in July 2020.

The R&A said in a statement: “Following unprecedented demand for tickets for The Open at Royal Portrush in 2019 you can stay ahead of the curve by registering your interest in tickets for 2020.

“With high demand expected again following the sell out of The 148th Open, all those registering for tickets will be informed of all the latest ticket information, including how to ensure priority access to tickets.”

“Tickets for The 149th Open are expected to go on sale from spring/summer 2019.”
