Unfortunately for Bromley fans it was the same old story in the FA Cup First Round as they saw The Ravens outclassed by their League One hosts at Spotland on Saturday afternoon.
The game began with Bromley on the back foot as Rochdale pressed from the kick off, Bradden Inman going close twice.
The pressure paid off on 9 minutes when Alan Dunne slipped and Inman pounced on the loose ball to slot the ball past David Gregory.
The Ravens had a couple of free kicks that hit the wall, before Roger Johnson had to go off injured and Neil Smith reshuffled his side.
Ian Henderson crossed for Kigosi Ntlhe who hit the post with a header before Rochdale were awarded a penalty when Luke Wanadio collided with Joseph Rafferty and Referee Miller saw fit to point to the spot.
Henderson tucked away the penalty and the game was effectively over on the half hour mark. Late on in the half Bromley did create chances, Brett Williams headed a Frankie Sutherland free kick wide, Louis Dennis had an effort deflected wide and Josh Rees scuffed a shot over from six yards out from a corner, but they failed to make it count.
The second half was more of the same for The Ravens, with Dale piling on the pressure. Inman was denied by Gregory before they made it 3-0 on 53 minutes.
Following a Dan Johnson header that was saved, keeper Josh Lillis punted the ball down field and Inman latched on to the ball before coolly sliding it past Gregory from the edge of the box.
Williams failed to connect with a good chance, Adam Mekki fired wide and Sutherland had a shot saved as Bromley rallied, but their momentum was halted on 74 minutes when Williams was sent off for kicking out at a Dale defender off the ball.
From there the home side dominated the final fifteen minutes, Calvin Andrew having two shots saved and one blocked by Jack Holland, then Ntlhe hit the side netting before Henderson made it 4-0 on 82 minutes when he dispossessed Jordan Higgs in the box and placed the ball into the corner of the net.
Holland blocked another chance on the line late on before the final whistle ended the punishment.
Bromley certainly didn’t have any luck in the game missing Tyrone Sterling, Ben Chorley and George Porter, losing Roger Johnson early on and then having Williams sent off, they finished the game with two midfielders at full back and a trialist up front, but Rochdale were just quicker to every ball and better in possession.
The Ravens now travel to Guiseley next week with two strikers suspended and a growing injury list.
