A day off for the Addicks today as their scheduled opponents, Rochdale, are still involved in the FA Cup.
Dale duly won 2-0 at Barrow to progress to the Fourth Round, which will be played on the weekend of 28 January.
Charlton could be idle again on that day. They are due to play Bolton, so if the Trotters fashion an unlikely win over Crystal Palace in the replay at Selhurst, the Addicks’ trip to the Macron would be postponed.
The game at Spotland has been rescheduled for Tuesday 7 February. That is in the week that any Fourth Round replays are normally played, so Charlton’s visit may have to be rearanged again.
One of the biggest shocks of the Third Round was Millwall’s 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at the Den.
Eddie Howe made 11 changes to his Bournemouth team and paid the price.
Though naturally delighted with the result, Lions boss, Neil Harris, said he would happily trade it for a win at The Valley next Saturday.
Harris said this at his post match press conference:
“I would swap this victory for a win at Charlton, that’s how big next week’s game is.”
Karl Robinson will be hoping Millwall will be distracted by a plum Fourth Round draw!
