Though not revealing too much, Karl Robinson gave some hints about the team he will select to face Millwall, at his Thursday press conference.
The manager said there would be four or five changes from the team that played in the game at the Den, and the bench would show that he is getting nearer to the team he wants.
When asked if there would be any debuts on Saturday, Robinson said there would be ‘some’.
Recent departures, Morgan Fox and Ademola Lookman played at the Den, and Nicky Ajose and Johnnie Jackson could also make way.
There is also a chance that Declan Rudd could return in goal.
Nathan Byrne, Lewis Page, Chris Solly and Frederik Ulvestad could be in line to come in.
Both Ricky Holmes and Tony Watt trained on Thursday, and Monday’s Under-23 game would have improved Jake Forster-Caskey’s sharpness. All three are likely to be on the bench on Saturday.
Robinson also said that he had not finished in the transfer market. He hopes to bring one or two in, and hinted that a striker was on his list.
He believes teams that score lots of goals win lots of matches, and his philosophy is to attack rather than concentrate on keeping a clean sheet.
Robinson added that there will also be a few departures before the end of the month.
A feature of Robinson’s time at MK Dons was his use of ‘guest’ coaches to take occasional sessions.
Robbie Fowler was one such guest, and Robinson said that Lee Bowyer would be taking Joe Aribo and Ezri Konsa for a session after Thursday’s main training had finished.
