Jason Euell’s Under-23 side came away with a 1-0 win from their game with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday afternoon.
Skipper, Mikhail Kennedy, netted the 78th minute winner.
George Lapslie, playing in the unusual position of right-back, was Charlton’s star player on the day. Dimitar Mitov was the Addicks’ keeper.
Charlton: Mitov; Lapslie, Bowry Dijksteel, Edwards; Carter, Yamfam, Aribo; Kennedy, Ahearne-Grant, Umerah.
Subs: Thomas, Doughty, Zemura, Charles-Cook, Millar.
New manager, Karl Robinson, was unveiled to the press on Monday afternoon.
The manger said that he had asked coach Chris O’Loughlin – who was due to return to Belgium this week – to stay on.
O’Loughlin’s sessions are believed to be popular with the players.
Robinson wants to bring in another coach, believed to be his long time MK Dons assistant, Richie Barker.
Robinson will take charge for the first time on Saturday – ironically against MK Don’s in the FA Cup at The Valley.
Robinson deploys a more expansive game than Slade, and his style will be more popular with the fans.
For a variety of reasons, the new manager is likely to field a near full strength team on Saturday.
If successful, the Addicks could get a lucrative tie against one of the giants in the Third Round.
