Gillingham have been dealt a blow with midfielder Scott Robertson having been recalled from his loan spell by Celtic.
The 19 year old joined Steve Evans’ side on loan in September, going on to make 19 appearances in his time at Priestfield, becoming one of the first names on The Gills teamsheet in recent months.
With Celtic missing a number of players due to Covid-19, manager Neil Lennon has decided to recall Robertson who could come into contention for a place in the Scottish Premier League side.
Having seen the midfielder head back north over the border, Gillingham manager Steve Evans spoke highly of Robertson:
“Scott is an outstanding young player who has developed nicely in the last few months.”
“He has returned to Celtic and we wish him all the very best.”
With Josh Eccles also having ended his loan spell and returned to Coventry City, Gillingham will now be looking to add to their threadbare squad ahead of Saturday’s trip to Accrington Stanley in League One.
Evans did reveal at the weekend that he is working hard to bring in new faces to the club:
“We are working hard to add to the group and it proves difficult as we cannot shop in the market where big wages are required. However, we are looking at a number of options.”
