Holcombe Hockey Club have announced that former Great Britain and Scotland international Sarah Robertson has re-joined the club.

Robertson recently played in the Super 6s Premier Division for Holcombe as Richard Lane’s side narrowly missed out on a Finals Day berth and will now link up with the squad as they bid for Premier Division survival in Phases Two and Three.
The 31-year-old retired from international duty in November having won 219 caps – 118 for Scotland and 101 for Great Britain, captaining the former on a number of occasions.
She competed in two Olympic Games – winning bronze in Tokyo – as well as multiple FIH Pro League campaigns and a number of other prestigious tournaments including the Commonwealth Games across a twelve-year-long international career, having made her Scotland debut in 2012.
More recently, Robertson competed in the Hockey One league in Australia in late 2024 and also helped Hampstead & Westminster to European qualification at last season’s Premier Division Finals.
The Tassie Tigers, Robertson’s team in Australia, finished fifth in the league stage having won two, drawn two and lost two of their six matches.
The former GB player also spent time with KHC Dragons in Belgium, who Holcombe faced on their most recent pre-season tour in Antwerp.
A law graduate, Robertson also previously played for Holcombe around a decade ago around the time when she was first brought into the central program in late 2014, helping Holcs to a fifth-placed Premier Division finish in the 2014/15 season before qualifying for League Finals weekend with a fourth-placed finish in the following campaign.
On re-joining the club, Robertson said: “I’m really looking forward to being back in a Holcombe shirt, and a new challenge.
“It’s a great group with a lot of character and I know we are ready to give it everything for the second half.”
Head Coach Brad Read added: “I’m really excited and grateful to have a player of Sarah’s calibre here at Holcombe.
“As a two-time Olympian, she comes with a wealth of experience at the highest level that will be incredibly valuable for our group and club.
“I’m looking forward to working with Sarah and can’t wait to see her succeed in a Holcombe jersey.”
We are delighted to welcome Sarah back to the club and can’t wait to see her back in the red and black!
Robertson, who will wear the number 12 shirt, is available for selection against Sutton Coldfield on Saturday, 1 March (14:30) as Holcs restart their Premier Division campaign against the bottom side at home. Entry is free for all top-flight matches at Holcombe Park.
