Many were surprised when Michael Morrison was allowed to leave The Valley on a permanent basis in January.
Bob Peeters put his faith in Tal Ben Haim and Andre Bikey, with Morrison becoming a peripheral figure.
The popular centre-back initially joined Birmingham on loan at the end of October, but completed a deal to keep him at St Andrews until the summer of 2018 in January.
In his five-and-a-half-years with the Addicks, Morrison made 150 appearances in all competitions, scoring 8 goals.
Morrison has been a regular member of the Blues’ back line since his arrival, and had made a total of 23 starts by the end of the season.
When it became clear that Morrison was not in Peeters’ plans, it was thought that a move to rejoin former manager, Chris Powell, at Huddersfield was on the cards.
It never happened of course, but there are now stories circulating that Morrison could make a switch to the John Smith’s during the summer.
Charlton are among a clutch of clubs keeping tabs on David Bruno. Bruno is a 23-year-old right-back, who can also play in central defence.
Bruno plays for Porto’s ‘B’ team, who are playing Manchester City’s academy side this weekend.
The Addicks will have representatives watching Bruno, but they will not be alone. Fellow Championship clubs Blackburn, Fulham, Ipswich and Reading will also be in Manchester, and German giants, Borussia Moenchengladbach, are also thought to be keen.
Reading are possibly the most interested of the English quartet.
Charlton lack cover for regular right-back, Chris Solly, and with Lawrie Wilson likely to move on in the summer, they will need to bring cover in.
Joe Gomez has filled in on occasions this season, but he is really a centre-back, and is also on the radar of a number of Premier League clubs.
