This is one of the quieter summers in terms of contracts expiring, only three senior players will be out of contract next month.
Johnnie Jackson’s playing contract expires, though the skipper has announced his retirement. His coaching deal has another year to run, while Harry Lennon’s additional year’s option has been activated.
Ahmed Kashi is the only other senior player out of contract, but the club are negotiating with the midfielder, and hope he will agree to extend his stay at The Valley.
Youngsters Jordan Beeney, Matt Carter, Archie Edwards, Brandon Hanlon and Louis-Michel Yamfam have all been released.
Regan Charles-Cook, Ryan Blumberg, Jamie Mascoll and Joshua Umerah have all penned one year extensions, and Mikhail Kennedy has agreed a six month deal.
Steve Avory has agreed terms with two players he had on trial at the end of the season. Toby Stevenson is a left-sided central defender who was previously with Leyton Orient, and striker, Wilberforce Ocran, joins from Barnsley.
Avory had this to say about his new additions:
”Toby (Stevenson) was released by Leyton Orient, essentially because they don’t run an Under-23 programme. He had been there for three years and we took him on trial at the end of the season.
“He was thrust into the Under-18 play-off final against Crystal Palace a few weeks ago, simply because we had released a centre-back at that time and wanted to have a look at him. He did outstandingly well and we gave him a contract off the back of it.
