Redstone Racing in fighting spirit for Croft

Redstone Racing is ready to fight back from a troublesome outing at Oulton Park when the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car  Championship (BTCC) visits Croft circuit this weekend.

The Kent-based team has been working round the clock to prepare its trio of Ford Focus STs following a difficult weekend last  time out, where the squad was involved in a number of incidents that caused heavy damage to all three of its cars.

Despite Oulton Park’s challenges, Redstone Racing still leads the Independent Teams’ Trophy, while it lies third in the  overall Teams’ Championship.

Its three drivers – Mat Jackson, Aron Smith and Liam Griffin – also remain in good spirits and are determined to secure  stronger results during the BTCC’s visit to the North East. Jackson in particular will be looking for a repeat of his 2011  Croft performance, where he scored race three victory and a further podium finish.

Redstone Racing driver Mat Jackson said:

“As ever beating the NGTC cars is going to be tough but we’ve proved twice already this season it can be done. They’ll have  success ballast in their cars for qualifying and Croft is a circuit where ballast hurts so we need to try and capitalise on  that. The trick will be to qualify ahead of them or somehow get ahead of them in the first few laps before they get into  their stride.”

Redstone Racing driver Aron Smith said:

“While the results didn’t show it due to bad luck,I think we made a big step forward at Oulton Park and with the hard work  the team has put in we’ve found a great set up. Croft is a real driver’s circuit with a good mix of corners so hopefully the  groundwork we’ve done will pay off and give the team and I the three strong results we deserve.”

Redstone Racing Team Manager Oly Collins said:

“Oulton Park has been and gone. Sometimes you have days like that. It was a frustrating weekend from start to finish but on a   positive note the cars had the pace in them. Back at base, the guys have been fantastic as usual, lifting their spirits after  a poor weekend and repairing three heavily damaged cars to the usual high standards. Croft should suit our little Focus so we  head there in a buoyant mood – it will be interesting to see fast how the NGTC cars are there.”
