Kent showed their promotion credentials with a comprehensive innings and 279 run defeat on Leicestershire at Canterbury on Friday.
Rob Key’s side showed no mercy at all in one of the most one sided games to have ever been played at the St Lawrence Ground as they wrapped up the win within three days and by such an emphatic scoreline.
Starting the day on 404 for 6 and Mike Powell on 133 not out, Kent looked to pile on the misery against an already deflated Leicestershire side as they decided to bat on, depsite a lead of over 200 runs.
Powell was to only add another run to his overnight score, but James Tredwell and Matt Coles look to assert their authority and piled on the runs, putting on 89 for the eighth wicket.
Tredwell was the next to go, having smashed a stylish 87 before Claude Henderson picked up the third of his five wickets in the innings.
Coles was to follow not long after as he was caught at the wicket for 47 with Mark Davies the last man out for 22 as Kent closed on 533, a first innings lead of 392.
It was one way traffic when Kent came back out to bowl and soon had Leicestershire deep in trouble with all of the bowlers picking up wickets at regular intervals.
Only five of the eleven batsmen made it into double figures as Kent went on to skittle Leicestershire for just 113, wrapping up the victory shortly after 5pm on the third day.
