Persistent rain meant that no play was possible on the first day of Kent’s County Championship game away at Derbyshire.
The teams have been confirmed, with Kent unchanged from their win against Surrey, and the home side making four changes starting XI after a heavy defeat at Worcestershire in their last game, including handing a First Class debut to 23-year-old batting all-rounder Scott Elstone.
Kent won the toss and had elected to field before the rain began at The 3aaa County Ground 15 minutes before play was set to get underway. Early lunch and tea were both taken, but regular showers throughout the day saw it called off shortly before 4pm.
Both sides will hope to see the game get started tomorrow morning on day two, with the home side still searching for their first win of the season, and Kent looking to continue on from the promising form they showed in their eight-wicket win against Surrey.
