GP2 returns this weekend for the first time since Kuala Lumpur as round two of the 2013 season gets underway.
Once again Kent’s Adrian Quaife-Hobbs will be on the grid and hoping for a better round two than he had in round one, as they all head to the Sakhir International Circuit in Bahrain.
Also lining up on the grid with him in his Carlin car will be Jolyon Palmer who is the son of Brands Hatch circuit owner Jonathan Palmer.
Quaife-Hobbs who is still a rookie will be looking for a good finish in round two after lasting just three laps in race one and 17th place in race two.
By contrast Palmer will be looking to improve on the eight points he has from the opening weekend after finishing sixth in race one and tenth in race two.
The man to beat for all the drivers will be Stefano Coletti of the Rapax team who finished in third place in race one and in first place in race two. He leads the drivers’ championship by 13 points from Fabio Leimar.
The weekend gets underway with testing on Friday morning, where the teams will figure out the best set-up for a track with 15 corners and high humidity levels.
Qualifying takes place on Friday afternoon where the grid will be decided for the feature race on Saturday afternoon, which will be 32 laps of the 5.4km track.
The sprint race takes place on Sunday with 23 laps of the track before the Formula One cars take to the grid.
Hopefully round two will be kinder on Tonbridge’s Quaife-Hobbs after he was issued with a five place grid penalty after apparently blocking his teammate in the feature race of round one, the penalty certainly hampered his progress in the sprint race.
Alexander Rossi the Caterham F1 Reserve driver takes to the GP2 grid for the first time this season in Bahrain as he takes a race seat for the rest of the 2013 season.
