Quaife-Hobbs eighth in Monaco

Adrian Quaife-Hobbs finished eighth in the GP2 feature race at Monaco this afternoon for his second best result of the season.Adrian Quaiffe-Hobbs - Bahrain

There wasn’t such good news for Jolyon Palmer however as he was taken out in a first corner incident that saw eight other drivers fail to finish the race.

Sam Bird was the Brit standing on the top step of the podium after the race after bringing home his car easily ahead of Kevin Ceccon and Mitch Evans.

All the drama began at the first corner of the first lap however, when pole sitter Johnny Cecotto who got a slow start to the race, and ended up going wide into Ste Devote and hit the barriers taking Fabio Leimar with him.

As a result of this cars piled up behind them and the race was red flagged, allowing the marshals to go about their work and clear the cars and debris from the track.

The restart of the race took part behind the safety car for the first lap to make sure that all the drivers and cars got round the first lap without further incident.

After that pit stops came into play with race strategies becoming a key part of the race as to who was going to be the winner or on the podium.

Adrian Quaife-Hobbs will now start tomorrows sprint race from pole position after grabbing it from local driver Stephane Richelmi.
