Finally after nearly a year of planning the Maidstone Pumas American Football Youth section is ready to get itself up and running.
Youth American Football provides a key development function and forms an integral part of any organisation and the Pumas see its Youth section as a very important part of its sustainability and continued development.
This is why such care has been taken in establishing a sustainable program outline and plan to ensure they are able to offer a solid and long running program.
For 2013 anyone aged 11-16 will be able to participate in the Pumas Flag program which will introduce players to the basics of
American Football and develop key skills, participants aged 14-16 may then (depending on development and attendance) progress
on to kitted 5v5 Football which will introduce helmets, pads, blocking and tackling.
While there will be no Junior kitted team initially it is hoped that by starting at the Flag level the Pumas will be able to establish a Junior team in due course.
Anyone interested in taking part can come along to the Flag Open Day on Sunday 13th January to meet the coaches and find out more information, alternatively you may contact Ian Miles at [email protected]
The Pumas will also be working with local schools and organisations to bring Flag Football to a wider audience and increase the number of people playing their sport and to build a solid foundation for American Football to grow within Maidstone and the local area.
