Over 50s golfers wanting to play in tournaments at different courses across the southeast will soon have a new option available.
The inaugural event in the “Southeast Over 50s Golf Tour” takes place at Prince’s Golf Course on April 5th, followed by five other qualifying tournaments building towards a Grand Final at Woburn GC in October.
Sponsored by Ashford Orbital Kia, the tour is being organised by Southeast Golf Events who already operate a similar amateur tour for “any age” players which recently began its’ fifth season with a competition at the Royal Cinque Ports links.
Southeast Golf Events director Gemma Woodcock said: “After extensive research we decided that an amateur tour around Kent golf courses would provide something new for the golfing community. We held our first event at Littlestone links in March 2015, with players travelling from as far as Scotland to compete.”
“After a successful first season the tour has become more and more popular, resulting in increased participation year on year. We have some fantastic courses in the southeast and our participants enjoy the fact that our events, while professionally run, have a very friendly feel while retaining a competitive edge. Our amateur tours are a great way for golfers to experience different courses whilst meeting new people.”
Apart from the opening event at the prestigious Prince’s links the new Over 50s tour will have tournaments at five other clubs in the southeast followed by a Grand Final at Woburn for those players who qualify through the season-long Order of Merit.
