Plans for next week’s finale at The Valley are gathering pace. The Red Devils parachute team will perform, though they will not be delivering the League One trophy.

Tenor, Martin Toal, and soprano, Victoria Stanyon, will also perform, as will a third singer. There has been much speculation over the identity of the third artist but sources close to the singer have confirmed that it will be Bromley born, 21-year-old singer songwriter, Pixie Lott. There will be musical entertainment both before and after the game.

Before that, there is the final away match of the season at Preston to be negotiated. It has been a disappointing season for the Lillywhites who were expected to make a serious challenge for a quick return to the Championship.

Following a dismal run of form Preston dismissed manager Phil Brown and replaced him Stevenage’s unconventional Graham Westley. Things have not gone entirely to plan and the Lancastrians will be looking to be much improved next season.

It will be an emotional day for Preston legend, Graham Alexander. Famed for his ferocious shooting and penalty expertise, 40-year-old Alexander will hang up his boots at the end of the season. He is likely to be on the bench and will be given a cameo appearance to bid the Deepdale faithful farewell. One of the game’s great servants, Alexander will hopefully be given an ovation by the visiting fans as well.

The Preston team will form a guard of honour as their visitors take to the field and the Addicks are likely to get a warm reception from the sporting Deepdale crowd. Charlton will be backed by about 2000 travelling fans who will give their heroes a euphoric welcome on to the pitch.

Chris Powell will be taking the game seriously as he aims to break the 100 point barrier. Powell has said he wants to give all his squad some game time over the final two fixtures so there could be the odd change.

Darel Russell was available for the Wycombe game but did not figure. He is inelegible for this game but Powell has said he will be talking to Graham Westley about a permanent deal for Russell.

Danny Hollands is available again after serving his three match suspension but Danny Green, though back in training, may not figure until next week. Paul Hayes is amongst the players likely to be released in the summer and Powell will have to decide whether to use him against his former club or wait until the visit of Hartlepool.

Danny Haynes or Dany N’Guessan may be given a start and John Sullivan, Andy Hughes and Cedric Evina are others that could come into the reckoning.

Charlton could line-up like this:

Hamer; Solly, Cort, Morrison, Wiggins; Wagstaff, Stephens, Hollands, Jackson; Kermorgant, Haynes.

Subs: Sullivan, Taylor, Pritchard, N’Guessan, Wright-Phillips.

The referee will be Leicester’s Premier League whistler, Kevin Friend.

In what is likely to be a carnival atmosphere, the Addicks may do enough to move on to 100 points for the season.
