Ademola Lookman is set to sign an extended deal at The Valley.

Though the contract is likely to run until the summer of 2020, a clutch of Premier League clubs will still attempt to prise Charlton’s precocious teenager away in the summer.

Lookman will be in Jose Riga’s squad at Deepdale on Tuesday evening.

The Addicks played well in patches at Fulham, but the team struggle to score and are vulnerable at set pieces.

Prior to Saturday, the Cottagers had gone 21 games in all competitions without keeping a clean sheet. They have two attack minded full-back, and central defenders lacking pace.

Though Charlton created chances, they failed to capitalise on their opportunities. Coupled with their chronic inability to defend corners – all three goals came from flag-kicks – it makes winning a very difficult task.

When El-Hadji Ba and Diego Poyet were substituted in the second half, Riga paired Chris Solly and Johann Berg Gudmundsson in central midfield.

Preston are in good form, losing just one of their last nine Championship games, and currently sit in the top half of the table.

February was always going to a pivotal month in the Addicks’ bid to avoid relegation to League One. Thus far, they have taken one point from three games.

With this game being sandwiched between two Saturday games, Riga is likely to ring the changes.

Recent arrivals, Marco Motta and Yun Suk-Young, could start, while Rod Fanni and Yaya Sanogo could be on the bench.

Riga could have Jordan Cousins available again, but the game may come too soon for Igor Vetokele.

Riga’s side could look something like this:

Henderson; Motta, Teixeira, Lennon, Yun; Gudmundsson, Cousins, Ba, Bergdich; Makienok, Harriott.

Subs: Pope, Fanni, Fox, Johnson, Poyet, Lookman, Sanogo.

The referee will be Surrey’s Charles Breakspear.

Charlton will need an early goal to boost their fragile confidence. Any sort of result would be a bonus.
